Change Certification

Cultivate Change CertificationWhy do it?

As a leader of educational technologists and instructional designers you know that achieving teaching and learning change is challenging.  In this development opportunity for leaders we turn this notion on it’s head.  In order for us to achieve change, first we must change.  As Bill O’Brien says, ”The success of any change intervention depends on the interior condition of the intervenor.’

This is a chance to examine your underlying assumptions about change, and also learn to see the ever changing Institution from a systemic perspective.

What is it?

The Cultivate Change Certification is a participatory journey of profound change starting with a four day, three night retreat.  It involves delegates in examining their fundamental assumptions, the quality of their interior frame, of how people are invited to change in their Institution.  We will study ideas by leading thinkers on systemic change such as Senge, Scharmer, Bohm and Jaworski as well as examining a number of original tools unique to Cultivate:

  • The Cultivate Swirl Theory
  • Adaptive Living Systems Dashboard
  • Organisational Caching
  • Portable Social Technology

At the heart of this journey is the chance to view the Institution form an organic systemic rather than a machine viewpoint in order to provide insights and perspectives that will be useful to you.  As Fritjof Capra says:  “You can never direct a social system; you can only disturb it.  A living network chooses which disturbances to notice and how to respond.  A message will get through to people in a community of practice when it is meaningful to them.”
